Professor Finlay Macrae AO

Professor Finlay Macrae AO, MBBS, MD, FRACP, FRCP, AGAF, MWGO is Principal Fellow and  Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Melbourne, and Head of Colorectal Medicine and Genetics, The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

He is a lead clinician in the Familial Cancer Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the state's busiest in familial bowel cancer, and is engaged in research into colorectal cancer genetics. He is a member of the Medicare Review Task Force, and Cancer Council Australia’s committee reviewing the NHMRC Guidelines for the Prevention, Screening and Management of Colorectal. He is a Councillor for the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, responsible for Professional Affairs. He is Secretary to the International Society of Gastrointestinal Hereditary Tumours (InSiGHT), based in Leiden and London, a member of Steering Committee of the National Institutes of Health (USA) Colon Cancer Family Registry, member of the International Scientific Advisory Committee of the Human Variome Project, and International vice- chairman of the CAPP organization for randomized controlled trials of prevention in HNPCC gene carriers, leading the Australian contribution to CAPP3.
